Local Business Love

Is it just me or does anyone else love the fact that Weirton has a great collection of local businesses now? I am a firm believer in supporting local businesses. These people are our friends, our neighbors, the ones we call when we want support so why shouldn’t we support them? Let’s not forget the fact that you also get personalized service and employees who not only remember you but learn your preferences in order to make better recommendations for you.

I imagine by now you’re wondering what some of my favorites are. There’s many to choose from that I can’t cover all of them in one post so let’s call this Part 1. I’m going to focus on some business in the Three Springs Drive Plaza so here we go!

First, let’s talk coffee! I am a coffee snob and love the smell & taste of a good cup of coffee. I also want my coffee to be scalding hot and not filled with a ton of sugar. I love to walk in the door and see cozy seating with places for people to gather and share life. One of my favorite coffeeshops is Urbancoffee304 in the Three Springs Plaza. When I tell you that they make an amazing cup of coffee, you had better believe me! They also have some delicious lunch specials made in house which are so much better than fast food. They even have punch cards to reward you with free drinks after so many purchases. Their house coffee is delicious and their expresso drinks are flavorful without being sugary. The employees are so friendly and have become like family at this point! This place needs to be your new coffee stop.

Next, let’s talk about pizza! I don’t know about you but I could eat pizza every day! Growing up in the Ohio Valley, I prefer square pizza to round pizza. Enter Belmonte’s Pizza in Three Springs Drive Plaza. Not only do they offer some delicious square pizza (hot) but they also have freezers full of pre-made pizza, pasta, soups and panwiches to name a few! One of my favorites is the buffalo chicken pizza. They also have one of the best fish dinners during Lent. You get a hand breaded fillet of fish plus a side of pasta. The serving size is so big that it fed me for two days! The next time you’re craving pizza or any Italian food, stop here!

To round this out, let’s talk wine and beer! I love a nice glass of wine to relax on a Friday night when the work week is done. My favorite place (outside of a winery) to buy wine is By the Barrel located right next to Belmonte’s Pizza. They carry wine, beer, seltzers and ciders to name a few. Once a month they have a wine tasting night where you can sample 5-6 wines and ciders. It’s a great way to try some new wines and expand your palate. Plus it’s a fun time! The owner and employees are amazing and very friendly. The owner is very knowledgeable and learns your tastes in order to help you find the perfect bottle! This place is a must-have for anyone who loves a good glass. Tell them I sent you!

Those are just a few of my favorite places so stay tuned for more in future blogs!
